Willowbarn Rafford is located on the Dava Way, a popular walking and cycling route which follows the old railway line between Forres and Grantown-on-Spey.
There are many interesting features along the Dava Way. Dallas Dhu Distillery Visitor Centre is part of the Speyside Malt Whisky Trail and allows visitors to learn about the traditional craft of Scottish Whisky production. We are only a short ten minute drive to the Findhorn river for some salmon fishing.
The Dava Way takes you directly into Forres, a beautiful historic town that has award-winning gardens and the famous Grant Park, that hosts events throughout the year including Forres Theme Day, Forres Highland Games and the European Pipe Band Championships.
Your own personal lochan
As Willowbarn is situated in a 4 acre garden with a tranquil lochan, we are delighted to be able to offer our guests the opportunity to relax in the garden .
If you wish to have fly fishing lessons from an experienced angler, there are several options available at Visit Moray Speyside, depending on the season. Prices for this activity will be negotiated with the fishing instructor.
Cycling, walking, running
The wonderful country location that Willowbarn is set in is ideal for cyclists to enjoy both road and mountain bike trails.
Bikes are available for use, and if you bring your own bikes we are able to offer secure storage for them. Perfect cycle routes for families are in abundance, a favourite destination by bike is Findhorn Bay or find many more at Moray bike trails. If you enjoy trail or road running, there are many options available. There are several parkruns nearby, the closest is in Elgin.
For wildlife enthusiasts Willowbarn is the perfect destination. The woodland and lochs attracts deer, Scottish hares, foxes, hundreds of birds including the occasional Osprey. Children visiting Willowbarn can be kept very busy trying to spot all the wonderful wildlife that visit and stay in our woods.
